A new treasury I created to honor the US Marines!

Here is a group of items that shops are selling on etsy, which honor the US Marines.  My son is a new US Marine (less than 1 year) and I miss him immensely.  This treasury is in his honor!

Newest Item-Goodbye Heart for Child separation anxiety and attachment issues

Check out this item, which I have listed on etsy.  There is a whole story behind it, about one of our fostering experiences and how the goodbye heart helped us.  It's all included in the listing:

Check out this treasury that I've created in etsy!

a treasury is a collection of items that sellers group together.  They are really fun to make, and they help to promote business for the items listed in the treasury.  A rule of thumb is not to include your own designs in a treasury, so the advantage you get for creating a treasury is that people who look at your treasury can see that you are the creator and this may bring traffic to your shop.  Also, the sellers whose items are included in the treasuries might check out your shop as well.  This treasury is all about items having to do with the head, thus the title, "Trying to get a'head'".  Enjoy.  http://www.etsy.com/treasury/4d84d3d76e2e6d915fcd3c81/trying-to-get-ahead?index=1

Baby Blanket

Here's a new baby blanket I just made.  ( I get lots of crocheting done when I'm not feeling well.  There's nothing else to do, huh?)  This is made of the SOFTEST yarn I've ever used, Bernat Baby Breath.  It is trimmed in Red Heart Baby Clouds, which is super soft, but not my favorite because it's too fluffy and I can't see my stitches.  But I think it gave the blanket a good looking border.  This blanket is listed in my etsy shop of course!  http://www.etsy.com/shop/suefern643.

new items

Hi everyone!  I have a couple of new items listed now in my etsy store.  I will share two with you!  The first might require a little explanation.  It is my new, "Lupus Sucks" pillow, which I created in rebellious response to this illness which has taken over my body.  For over a week, I have been lying in bed almost constantly, with complications that result from lupus.  While lying there, I felt that I had to make something to express how I was feeling, and thus the Lupus Sucks pillow was born.  After creating it (and being so proud of it because it's the first thing I've EVER sewn on the sewing machine - the pillow inside), the sales bird whispered in my ear that maybe others who are suffering from chronic pain and/or illness would like to have one as well, so I've listed it on etsy.  The second item is a little spring hat, called "Garden Party" which is a really cute little spring hat for a little girl.  The story behind this hat is unusual.  It was going to be a yo gabba gabba character hat, but as I was creating it, it just screamed to be a frilly, flowery, little girl hat.  And so here it is.  Both of these items are for sale in my etsy store at http://www.etsy.com/shop/suefern643.  Thanks for reading my blog.  Sometimes I feel like I'm just talking to myself on here.  I hope not!

More Easter/Spring things

I've been making Easter and spring things.  I haven't been feeling very inspired, but somehow I've come up with these little pieces.  If you like them, check out my etsy shop at www.etsy.com/shop/suefern643.

Rag Rugs

I'm going to try my hand at rag rugs.  I tried crocheting one, but it was too hard on my arthritis, so I'm going to try braiding.  I made a braided trivet but it really looks sad.  I need to practice ALOT!  Anyone have rag rugs that they've made?  Post them on my blog.  I'd love to see them!

More Easter Stuff

I'm really in the Easter spirit right now!  Here's an upcycled Easter Bunny basket/candy bowl.  Made from a vintage pattern in one of my mother's old, old craft magazines, he's the perfect use for a 2-liter soda bottle.  He's for sale in my etsy store!  http://www.etsy.com/shop/suefern643.
